"Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine should be your food." - Hippocrates (460 BC)
In the Chinese medicine there are inter alia the three substances: Qi-energy, yin-essence and Shen which is free translated the mind.
In the natural nutrition of our animals we have a precise look on the yin. Here there is a „Before-heaven-essence“ and a „after-heaven-essence“. The before-heaven-essence“is in the western medicine equatable with the things wich is passed on the animal genetically. Here the nutrion of the dam is not alone important but also the quatity of the litter. How much whelps have to share the „before-heaven-essence“? The genetical passed on substance can not or difficult be changed after birth but the „after-heaven-essence“ will be influenced by the permanent intake of nutrition, water and inhalable substances. Here the quality of food supply and the enviromental is controlling. Both essences (before and after-heaven-jing) are saved in the kidney. They are important for the development of the animal, the reproduction and a healthy growth.
